Jerusalem.church is a brand new website focused on the Jewish roots of Christianity. Jesus Christ was Jewish and was sent by God to redeem His people Israel. However He also came as the Saviour of all people and fulfilled the Law of God, the Torah, that had been given to the people of Israel through Moses.
After Jesus died on the cross for the crimes of all people (though He Himself had never broken the Torah) and rose from the dead on the third day, He appeared to two of his followers. They were Jewish and of course were acquainted with the Torah and the Jewish Sctriptures, that we call the Old Testament.
In these very same Scriptures, Jesus was prophesied as the Messiah who was to come. They are, however, not always easy to understand because pictures and symbology are often used. That’s why Jesus helped His followers to understand the meaning of these Scriptures:
And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself.
This site is designed to help understand these pictures/symbologies in the Jewish Scriptures. Jesus cannot be separated from the Jewish people and from biblical Judaism, which is the root of Christianity.
The Torah and the Prophets talk about Jesus!
For this reason a correct understanding of the Old Testament is just as important to the Church and Christians everywhere today, as it was in the times of the New Testament. Many of the connections between the Old and New Testaments were explained by the Apostle Paul so that through a greater understanding of the Old Testament we can understand the New better.
Be blessed as you read and study!
